Who We Are
Established in 2020 and headquartered in Addis Ababa, the Dr. Ambachew Mekonnen Foundation works with women, youth, and underserved communities to expand opportunity, strengthen education, promote social justice, and build resilient and peaceful societies

First-Year Memorial: KDI School of Public Policy

Preserved and promoted Dr. Ambachew’s values within the international academic community, inspiring the next generation of public policy leaders
ENVIRONMENT and HEALTH ACTION
National Service Mobilization: Lake Tana and Addis Ababa
- Bahir Dar & Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Translating grief into action, the Foundation mobilized nationwide community efforts. This included a large-scale Emboch removal campaign to protect the Lake Tana ecosystem and a partnership with the National Blood Bank to save lives through voluntary donation
Mobilized hundreds of volunteers for environmental restoration and strengthened the national blood supply in a tribute of life-saving service
